Nursing careers at HCA Healthcare

There are numerous possibilities for a fulfilling career in nursing. No matter your role, you can help shape patient care and advance the practice of nursing.

Alternative employment opportunities

The roles available for nurses at HCA Healthcare go beyond the traditional bedside setting. Our alternate care settings are looking for nurses who want to use their expertise in different ways.

Transfer center

The nurses and paramedics in HCA Healthcare’s transfer centers use their clinical understanding, critical thinking and communication skills to coordinate the movement between HCA Healthcare facilities and other care settings. With specialized technology and streamlined processes, our colleagues interact with physicians and other clinical team members across the industry to manage the movement of patients, including those who are critically ill and have time-sensitive diagnoses or complex needs.

National Contact Center Management

National Contact Center Management (NCCM) colleagues provide services to connect consumers to the next point of care in their healthcare journey 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NCCM employs registered and licensed practical nurses in over 40 states who offer patients clinical guidance and link them to proper care resources. The registered and licensed nurses address questions about medical conditions and provide education and assistance with ongoing care planning.

Ambulatory surgery centers

Surgery Ventures, powered by HCA Healthcare, operates and jointly owns with physicians approximately 150 surgery and endoscopy centers throughout the U.S.

With more than 7,000 colleagues, Surgery Ventures is built on a foundation of quality care and a commitment to providing patients with healthier tomorrows. It is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our patients, visitors and colleagues.

Our chief nurse executive, service excellence leaders and patient experience professionals help ensure our colleagues are engaged and address patients’ concerns. We are focused on providing patient-centered care with every interaction.

Nurses can follow a career path including training and education at each step throughout a wide variety of roles — from frontline nurses, clinical nurse coordinators, nurse managers and directors of nursing to operational roles such as administrators, market risk managers and directors of patient safety and quality. This allows our nursing colleagues to further their careers within Surgery Ventures.

Opportunities for new nurses

When you join HCA Healthcare as a recent graduate, you are opening the doors to a wealth of opportunities for career growth and advancement within your community and across the country. Our nurses are leaders in their field, and HCA Healthcare provides the training and education you need to advance your career and perform at your best.

HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency Program

The HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency program is a comprehensive 12-month registered nurse residency transition to practice program. Divided into two phases, this program is designed to bridge the nursing practice gap for all newly licensed/new graduate nurses.

Enhancing specialized skills

Med-surg nurses are the largest body of nurses at HCA Healthcare, and we recognize the unique educational and professional development needs of this special group of nurses. Through our enterprise-wide med-surg initiative, they have access to the tools needed to enhance their skills in this specialized area. Eligible nurses are encouraged and supported in gaining national certifications throughout their career at HCA Healthcare.

We are expanding our commitment to empowering nurses to enhance their skills in a specialized area through our critical care program. Similar to our med-surg program, it fosters nursing excellence, patient advocacy and a healthy work environment in adult critical care departments.
