Supporting HCA Healthcare nurses

Nurses are the cornerstone of our mission to care for and improve human life, driving the exceptional quality that defines our patient experience.

The heart of patient care

We recognize the vital role nurses play in creating healthier tomorrows for our patients.

Whether our nurses are providing care at the bedside, training their colleagues in a classroom, working with patients in a virtual care setting or in any number of other roles, the impact of their dedication and commitment to care drives our organization forward.

It’s an exciting time to be a nurse at HCA Healthcare.

I am pleased you want to learn more about the opportunities and experiences available for nurses at HCA Healthcare. Nurses are the cornerstone of patient care, and we are committed to investing in the resources they need to grow professionally and personally.

As HCA Healthcare’s chief nurse executive, I am proud our colleagues are worldwide leaders in healthcare and can grow and develop in their careers in any direction. With our national network, HCA Healthcare nurses influence patient care far beyond the walls of one hospital.

We are grateful to have a team of dedicated and professional nurses raising the bar for patient care. If you are already an HCA Healthcare nurse, thank you for everything you do to support our mission to care for and improve human life. Awards and recognition

HCA Healthcare and our affiliated facilities are continually recognized for our commitment to excellence. We have also established our own internal awards to celebrate our colleagues’ commitment to patients, communities and each other.

Magnet Recognition Program® and Pathway to Excellence® Program

Awarded through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Magnet and Pathway to Excellence programs identify healthcare organizations with exceptional professional practice environments. The prestigious Magnet distinction recognizes hospitals providing high-quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice, while the Pathway to Excellence program recognizes the work of hospitals to create a positive environment where nurses can flourish. In 2024, HCA Healthcare’s network included 15 Magnet® Designations covering 19 facilities, and 19 Pathways® designations covering 20 facilities.

Unit of Distinction

HCA Healthcare’s Unit of Distinction program celebrates top-performing nursing units that are defining excellence through nursing-specific indicators and departmental performance. At the annual awards ceremony each spring, the top five percent of units across HCA Healthcare are awarded by category. The top 6% to 10% of all HCA Healthcare units earn honorable mention designation. The program has expanded over the years to honor nursing units in these different categories:
